SUBJECT: Meyerland PVA PTO Newsletter (May 15, 2025)

May 15, 2025
Message from the PTO Co-Presidents

Dear MPVA Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we write to you today. The loss of one of our MPVA students, James Robert Lopez Ayala, has deeply affected our entire school community. During this difficult time, we have witnessed the strength and compassion that makes our MPVA family so special.

Funeral Services will be held this Saturday, May 17th, starting at 4:00 pm. If you would like to send a floral arrangement or other token of appreciation, please click this link for details: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/pearland-tx/james-lopez-ayala-12372727

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Elaine's Florist for their generous donation of flowers for the memorial service. Their thoughtful contribution helped create a beautiful space for our community to gather, remember, and begin the healing process. In times of grief, these gestures of kindness mean more than words can express.

As we continue to support one another through this challenging period, we also look ahead to the coming school year. We are pleased to announce the proposed slate of PTO officers for the 2025-2026 school year:

    President: Naomi Doyle-Madrid

    President Elect: Open

    Secretary: Ashley McDonough

    Treasurer (2-year term): Elizabeth Shepard

    Assistant Treasurer: Caroline Walker

    Communications Chair: Marcie Jones

    Magnet Chair: Stacy Anderson

    Volunteer Chair: Open

    Community Chair: Open

    Fundraising Chair: Luci Bell

As you can see, we still have several open positions that need to be filled. If you are interested in serving in any of these roles, or know someone who might be, please reach out to us at president@mpvapto.com. The PTO plays a vital role in supporting our students and teachers, and your involvement makes a meaningful difference.

The official vote for the slate of officers will take place at our next PTO meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 6PM in the school library. We encourage all parents and guardians to attend.

Thank you for your continued support of our MPVA community, especially during this difficult time. Together, we will continue to create a nurturing environment where our children can learn, grow, and thrive.

With gratitude,

Michelle Manning and Rochelle Cabe MPVA PTO Co-Presidents

Teacher Volunteer Support Committee

The teacher support committee has identified that making copies for teachers would be helpful, but before we can come up with a plan, we need to know how many volunteers are interested in helping with this task. The general plan as of now is to do grade level copies one day a week and magnet copies on one or two more days. As of now, we need to see what our volunteer capacity is and make a plan from there. Copies will be made on flexible schedules from 9:30am to 4pm. If you think you can volunteer on a semi-regular day of the week, please indicate that on the form. Click HERE to sign up to help!

If you have any questions, please email amanda.sorena@sorenapr.com. All volunteers must be VIPS approved.
