SUBJECT: Meyerland PVA PTO Newsletter (August 17, 2025)

August 17, 2025

Dear Greyhound Families!

Well… we made it through our first week of school!

I know that for many of us, schedules were off—but I hope the end-of-week Kona Ice celebration brought a little joy to our students, teachers, and administration. Everyone has been working incredibly hard, and we appreciate it.

A few quick updates:

1. Schedule Changes
Schedules are still being balanced, so changes may continue over the next few days. Please be sure to submit the official schedule change request form directly to the school. I personally sent ours to our Dean. If your student receives SPED services, it’s a great idea to keep your case manager in the loop—maybe even ask them to help lead the process.

2. After-School Traffic
We hear you—traffic is a challenge, especially near the 6th grade pickup area. The administration and PTO are actively working on a solution that will help ease congestion for everyone. In the meantime, you might consider picking up your student a block or two away from campus where traffic is lighter.

3. Teacher Appreciation

The week before school, the PTO sponsored a welcome-back breakfast for our amazing teachers and administrators. We’re so grateful for all they do!

If you’d like to get involved in supporting our staff, please don’t hesitate to reach out: president@mpvapto.com

Thanks again for being part of our school community. Here’s to a smoother, more settled second week!

Best regards,

Naomi

MPVA PTO President
