SUBJECT: Meyerland PVA PTO Newsletter (September 21, 2025)

September 21, 2025

Dear Greyhound Families,

Thank you for an amazing PTO meeting!
As my very first one as a PTO leader, I wasn’t sure what to expect — but you all made it such a joy! Your energy, support, and enthusiasm made everything feel easy, and I’m so grateful for that. I truly hope it felt like a productive and worthwhile use of your time.

A special shoutout to everyone who stopped me to ask about volunteering and getting involved — YES! I meant it when I said we have a place for everyone in this PTO. Whether you’ve got an hour or an idea, we’d love to have you on board!

Mark your calendars:

☕ Coffee with the Principal is coming up!
Join Mr. Mitchell on September 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM in the Library for some great conversation and (of course) coffee!

💙 Coming Soon: We Are Meyerland Campaign!
Our main fall fundraiser, the We Are MPVA (WAM) campaign, runs from October 6–31 with a goal of $30,000 (though we’re hoping to blow that out of the water!).

Funds raised support:

  • Educational supplies and subscriptions
  • Specialized magnet program needs
  • Beautification efforts
  • Teacher and student appreciation and incentives
  • …and everything in between!

Don’t forget if you want to get involved or have questions? Feel free to reach out: president@mpvapto.com

Thank you for being such an important part of our MPVA community!

Warmly,

Naomi Doyle-Madrid

MPVA PTO President

We Are Meyerland

In October, the MPVA PTO Fundraising Team will be kicking off our annual four-week capital campaign called "We Are MPVA."

Every year, we like to feature different short profiles of students/admin/teachers and how they make MPVA the place we love. Features are short stories and a photo that are posted on PTO social media as well is in school and PTO emails with information on how to donate. This capital campaign makes up a significant portion of our general PTO Operating Budget that allows us to say YES to more teacher grants, admin requests, beautification, athletic support, magnet support, core teacher support...and all the places we know our HISD budgets fall short of providing the educational supports our students deserve.

Stay tuned for more info in October on how to give and the incentives. (Can we say paint a courtyard Paw?)

Got a great MPVA story? If so, tell us below. Love a particular club or teacher? Tell us! Is your student a 2nd generation Greyhound? Tell us! Did your Aunt paint a mural? Tell us!

Click here to tell us YOUR story!
