SUBJECT: Meyerland PVA PTO Newsletter (November 2, 2025)

November 2, 2025

Dear Greyhound Families,

Can You Believe It’s Already November? As the holiday season approaches, many of us are looking forward to family time, festive celebrations, and a well-earned winter break. At MPVA PTO, things are starting to heat up as we wrap up the fall semester and plan ahead for an exciting new year!

🐾 We Are MPVA!

When we thought our school community couldn’t give any more, you all proved us wrong! Thanks to your incredible generosity, we not only met but exceeded our fundraising goal. Every single Greyhound — students, families, and staff — played a part in helping us cross that finish line. Your support continues to make a real difference in the programs and opportunities we provide for our students. Please see the report from Fundraising below with all of the details!

🍎 Principal Appreciation Month

October was all about celebrating leadership! We were thrilled to recognize Principal Mitchell for his dedication and hard work with a day full of surprises — goodies, an MPVA hoodie, balloons, and a Starbucks Refresher cup that can be refilled with his favorite drink forever. We’re so grateful for his commitment to our students and school community.

🤝 Calling All Volunteers!

Tour season kicks off on November 6, 2025, and we’re excited to welcome new families to MPVA! If you’d like to help showcase what makes our school special, please sign up through our MTK volunteer form. Your time and energy truly help us make a lasting impression.

📅 Mark Your Calendars!

Our next General PTO Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Library. This will be our final General Meeting of the year, and we’re ending on a festive note with a holiday theme. Come celebrate another successful semester with your fellow Greyhounds — we can’t wait to see you there!

Have questions or want to get involved? Reach out anytime: president@mpvapto.com

Thank you for being the heartbeat of our MPVA community—you make all this possible!

Warmly,

Naomi Doyle-Madrid

MPVA PTO President

WE ARE MPVA

We can’t thank our Greyhound community enough for all of the support over the last month with our We Are MPVA fundraising campaign. It was a record breaking year in so many ways.

💜Most number of paw prints painted (80)

💜Largest range of single donations ($1 - $11,111)

💜Highest single donation EVER with that $11,111 (thanks for generous alumni)

💜Most donuts ever given out in a month!

💜First Spooky Send Off!

💜And at a couple hundred dollars shy of $50,000 MOST SUCCESSFUL WE ARE MPVA EVER

Huge thanks to all of you who shared the stories, sported the lanyards/buttons/stickers, picked up your signs, ate all the donuts, and most of all donated. We love how this campaign not only raises money for the school, but truly shows off the spirit of MPVA.

Thank you to our We Are MPVA Fundraising Team - Luci Christian-Bell, Amanda Sorena, and Mary Pina for all the behind the scenes work. All incentives should be given out by the end of this week (Aside from the $500 lunch, more on that soon). If you have any questions, email fundraising@mpvapto.com

WE ARE MPVA STORIES

WE ARE MPVA is our main fall fundraiser, and we love that it gives us the opportunity to showcase all the goodness that is MPVA. There are thousands of people with an MPVA story, but over the course of our WE ARE MPVA campaign we will bring you 20 of them.

Volunteer Opportunities
Picture Day Volunteer

November 3rd & 4th

Students will take fall school pictures during their history class on November 3rd or 4th. Makeup pictures will be held on November 18th.

The students will be escorted to the auditorium by their respective teachers. They will be lined up, and the volunteers will provide them with their photo cards. Each student will approach one of the two photographers and have their photographs taken. The photo cards will be presorted for the volunteers to administer. If the student is absent, the card will be returned to its place, and the volunteer will move on to the next. The photographers will arrive at 7:45 to enter the auditorium to set up. Photos will be taken from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The volunteers would need to arrive by 8:30 am and will be able to take breaks per the schedule.  The last of the classes will be photographed at 3: 20 pm.

And remember, we are also showcasing MPVA to other schools across the district, so let's make it awesome! The date is Saturday, November 8th and there are lots of different ways to help from picking up food to concessions to ticket sales to helping in the back of the house. All hands on deck for this one!
