SUBJECT: Meyerland PVA PTO Newsletter (May 26, 2026)

May 26, 2026

Dear Greyhound Families,

As we near the end of our school year, I have much to reflect on! When I began this journey as PTO President I wasn’t sure what to expect. It seemed daunting at the time. I then had a job change in November that required me to actually be in an office (I’d been working from home for 20+ years) that decreased my flexible schedule. I was nervous, but I’m not going to lie, it’s been fun and not too hectice. I’ve gotten to know the school administration better, the students better, and our MPVA families better. I am continuing on for another term only because I’ve failed to recruit a President-Elect. This next school year that will be my priority!

I also had the pleasure of working with the best team! I want to share my thanks to: Ashley McDonough (Secretary), Stacy Anderson (Magnet Relations VP), Marcie Jones (Communications VP), Carrie Goodwin (Volunteers VP), Natalia Cornejo (Community Relations VP), Elizabeth Shepherd (Treasurer), Caroline Walker (Asst Treasurer) and Luci Bell (Fundraising VP). You all made this year so much easier!!

Thank you to Rochelle Cabe and Michelle Manning who provided guidance and support as Past Presidents. Thank you to our SDMC Representatives, Ashley Kolb and Leslie Santamaria for representing our parents so well. Thank you to ALL the committee members and numerous volunteers who supported all of our efforts from welcoming new families to Teacher Appreciation, Greyhound Days, Signing Day, and so much more! This year would not have been as great as it was without your presence at our school.

Finally, to all of our families and friends.. thank you for having faith that I could do the job and for always lifting me up.

Warmly,

Naomi Doyle-Madrid

8th Grade Fun Friday Events

It was so much fun seeing our students show up in their best 90s/Y2K gear Friday and enjoy Rita’s Ice in the courtyard! The energy, creativity, and excitement they brought made for a great afternoon and another special memory as we continue celebrating the Class of 2026.

And the celebration continues this Friday during 8th period with yearbook and class photo distribution! We can’t wait for students to flip through the memories, sign yearbooks, laugh at photos, and celebrate this special milestone together. Make sure your student is present so they don’t miss out on the fun!
